Are you Blushing? Or is that too much Blush you got on there?

What is blush? And Why Do You Need it?
Blush is like the finishing touch to face makeup. If applied incorrectly, blush can make you look like you should be doing children's parties as a clown. When applied properly, it provides an amazing natural glow to your skin.
Known as "rouge" before modern makeup came about in the early 20th century, blush was a popular makeup.
Blushes are available in various different textures, colors and blends which you can select according to your skin complexion and type.
A powder blush is extremely long lasting and it is suitable for all skin types especially for people who have oily skin.
You have your creme blushes and even gels or stains. Blush can really help  in highlighting your cheekbones and temples. It is very easy to apply and provides you a smooth and glowing texture.  A cream blush is suitable when you need a more defined look. It must be applied evenly with your fingers. Sometimes if you want your blush to stay, you apply a creme or gel, and over top of it a highlighter color to keep it giving you that natural glow longer.
Makeup are certainly important and set the tone to your style but your skin's appearance, makes or breaks the entire look you may be going for.
Some my personal favorite brands of blush are:
Ella Blue Mineral Blusher color "Well, Maybe Just This Once...
NARS Blush color Orgasm
Jill Kirsh Color from Kit #402
Overall Beauty Minerals Iced Wine
Each color is really pretty close to the rest. Now problem with three of the four is the ingredients..
Does your cheek bones break out at times and you don't know why? Well mine started doing that and I couldn't figure out what was happening. I was at the time only wearing one blush NARS brand.. LOVE the color.. but being a mineral makeup creator and brand owner of Overall Beauty Minerals I took a really good look at the ingriedients label.. and found out why. I also found out why for Ella Blue and Jill Kirsh.. They all created with three main ingredients.. Talc, Carmine and cosmetic dyes. :( All three that together break out my face.. yucky!) I have found that I can only wear my favorite other brands once or twice a week. Any than than that and I break out.
Do you have a favorite blush that breaks you out? :(

Tips or Two To Use Your Old Halloween Decorations

I was thinking of a few ideas today about what happens if you go looking for Halloween costumes and well what if they don't fit? We all lose weight so I was thinking this would be a great idea!

Old Costumes for Halloween: If you have an old collection of Halloween costumes that don’t fit anymore but still look good, then you can use them to put on the dummies. You can get dummies from your local thrift store. Get your dummies to wear the costumes and place them at front porch to guard your candy bowl. You can also place them at your trick or treat station.

Most of us have a box of old Halloween decorations, kept careful up in the attic or down in the basement. Sometimes we just can't throw away stuff! And since we don’t feel like throwing them away, and we are sure how to use them in the next festive season. I was thinking of a few ideas how to turn all kinds of old as well as new decorations to make the perfect Halloween decoration at your home and outdoor.

But then there is never any date, or time or type when it comes to nail polish!
This is Frankenstein which is a limited color, I got it for helping out Banned Books for the Blind! So this polish I will be wearing for this Halloween and next! But can't help to showcase it off.. this is an amazing color!

I came across a box of Halloween tea light holders: You can use the tea-light holders outside your home, to build a jack-o-lantern light or a haunted graveyard show. Alternatively, you can buy a bag of tea-light and use them for bright Halloween decorations at night. Candle holders can be used indoors for decoration. Some interesting ideas would be to scatter them in your Halloween village to make it look brightly lit up. You can also put them at the staircase with sugar pumpkins.
> You can turn your tea-light holders into no candle holders and use the special lights instead. That way if you decide to use them outside you don't have to worry about burning down the area.. If you rather not mess around with the candle holders, you can always donated to your yearly yard clean up. I did this year, and by the time the trucks got to my place all the god stuff was gone. One person's trash is another person's treasure. Happy Halloween Everyone!

Interesting facts about nail care

I thought it would be fun to check out what is going on the web today about nail care and how its changed over the years.

“Another growing trend in the nail accessories market is nail art, such as decorative designs applied on fingernails and toenails. A rising percentage of women are interested in decorating their nails and adding creative touches to traditional manicures. Designs run the gamut, while currently leaves, flowers, geometric patterns, spots, stripes, stars, music patterns, and half-moons are popular. At-home nail art is increasingly gaining popularity among women, especially with those below the age of 45.”

What is interesting is how they stated below the age of 45.. gee I am over 50 and I can't help but have fun wearing glitter of all things! lol But then they went of to say:

'Similar to lip makeup, girls are introduced to nail products at young ages, often before their teen and tween years,' says Shannon Romanowski, beauty and personal care analyst at Mintel. 'The popularity of nail products is partly due to the abundance of options these cosmetics offer—special effect polishes, nail art, etc. Girls can create a whole different look relatively easily.'

Nail product usage rises to 97% for girls aged 12–14, and 14% of all teen and tween girls use nail products on a daily basis. Mintel research found that the popularity of nail products among teens and tweens is consistent with the overall strong performance of the nail care and color category, which saw growth of roughly 72% between 2007 and 2012.

Health benefits? What a idea huh? Would you believe that there is such a thing as a benefit for wearing acrylic nails.. BUT...

Acrylic nails help conceal or fix broken, damaged, short, or bad nails. It also helps prevent people from biting their nails, breakage of nails, and protect splits. They are used when people are not able to grow the length and strength of natural nails that they desire. This problem can be solved by using certain nail techniques such as nail tipping, sculptured nails, nail wrapping, or acrylic overlays. However Acrylic nails usually make natural nails weak, thin, and breakable when removed.

Health Risks

If fitted properly, artificial nails are usually not problematic. However long term use and poorly fitted nails can seriously damage the nail bed and hamper natural nail growth. The most common problem associated with artificial nails is a bacterial infection that may develop between the false and natural nail.

When artificial nails are applied to the natural nail surface, minor types of trauma to the artificial nails which can happen from something as harmless as scraping a nail against a firm surface can cause separation of the nail from its nail bed. This allows bacteria and fungus to potentially enter the separated area setting up an infection. In fact, some hospitals won't allow their employees to have fake fingernails due to the risk of harboring infection which could be transmitted to patients. Several deaths of premature infants were blamed on an acrylic nail infection transmitted to the babies by a nurse in the late 1990s. Infection can also be a risk when you have nails applied by a disreputable nail salon that doesn't follow sanitary practices.

There is concern over the flammability of ingredients used to make acrylic nails. It is suggested that they be kept at a distance from hair straighteners, dryers or curling irons, as well as from heat and flames when cooking, in order to avoid potential flame hazards.

In an occupational health standpoint, there could be hazards to nail salon workers who are exposed to the chemical fumes from artificial nails, during their entire work shift. Though the usage of methyl methacrylate has been outlawed, ethyl methacrylate is continued to be used for artificial nails, and can cause contact dermatitis, asthma, and allergies in the eyes and nose. Nail salon workers also face exposures to other chemicals used, such as toluenedibutyl phthalate, andformaldehyde

Nail Care Tips For Brittle Or Weak Nails:

Toughening up weak nails can be challenging. However, brittle or weak fingernails can be protected and the risk of breaking or splitting can be reduced. Nails should be kept short and should be filed using a nail drill because longer nails are prone to breaking or splitting. Along with applying moisturizer to fingernails as mentioned, wearing cotton gloves when going to bed should also be considered since the moisture will get sealed in the nails this way. The fingernails should be kept moisturizers by applying a thin coat of clear nail polish to them. The use of nail polish remover should be limited. Nail remover should not be used more than once a week. When it needs to be used, an acetone-free variety should be chosen. A doctor should be consulted about taking biotin supplements. According to some research, biotin can help brittle or weak fingernails become stronger.

Enjoy your Life Better - Change Your Point of View

I am a big bigger in simple things. If I am upset over a phone call I have to remind myself that once I am off the phone with them, they don't know how I feel. I could happy, sad, piss off, but they don't know right?
Here is a great quote that fits this idea:
"Two men look out through the same bars: One sees the mud, and one sees the stars."- Frederick Langbridge, A Cluster of Quiet Thoughts
Now think about this if you’ve placed second in a spelling bee contest, would you jump for joy and push for better results the next time or will you be discouraged and find an excuse not to join again? Its a shame that many feel there is no need to be better than second place.
But you know, in life, you are always filled with choices. You may opt to have a pessimist’s view and live a self-defeated life or you may decide to take the optimist’s route and take a challenging and fulfilling life. Sometimes it is really easy to take a pessimist point of view, I know I live with two guys who hardly ever see the bright side of anything. :( But I try to change their minds as much as possible.

So why nurture an optimist’s point of view? And why now?
The world is filled with negative thoughts, feelings, pissoff people.. I for one don't like to be that way. Because I have the feeling that if I am being negative, I am drawing more negative to me. Don't understand what I mean? Ok when was the last time you got out of bed 'on the wrong side'? The whole day started off wrong, the car won't start, you are late for work, the favortite place to eat was too full, your boss got pissed off at you for something.. you know what most feel Monday's are like.. :P

Well, optimism has been linked to positive mood and good morale; to academic, athletic, military, occupational and political success; to popularity; to good health and even to long life and freedom from trauma. If you feel good about what you are doing, you are more willing to do more right?

But then on the other hand, the rates of depression and pessimism have never been higher. It affects middle-aged adults the same way it hits younger people. The mean age of onset has gone from 30 to 15. It is no longer a middle-aged housewife’s disorder but also a teen-ager’s disorder’ as well. One of my son's friends killed herself, she was 25 years old. So yeah depression, and sadness is hitting the kids at a younger age than ever.
Why be optimited then?
Here’s how optimists are in action and researches that back up why it really pays to be an optimist:

Optimists expect the best.
I tend to try and wake up thinking about good things to happen and go to bed hoping that good things will happen the next day. I read somewhere you need to be kinder to yourself. Starting off your morning thinking postive does help.

The defining characteristic of pessimists is that they tend to believe bad events, which will last a long time and undermine everything they do, are their own fault. My hubby is like this. :( and so is my son which is why sometimes it is really hard to be postive.

The truth is optimists are confronted with the same hard knocks of this world. What differs is the way they explain their misfortune---it’s the opposite way. They tend to believe defeat is just a temporary setback, that its causes are confined to this one case.

Optimists tend to focus on and plan for the 'problem' at hand. They use 'positive reinterpretation.' In other words, they most likely reinterpret a negative experience in a way that helps them learn and grow. Such people are unfazed by bad situation, they perceive it is a challenge and try harder.

They won’t say “things will never get better,” “If I failed once, it will happen again” and “If I experience misfortune in one part of my life, then it will happen in my whole life.” I tend to look at things and think, what can I learn from my mistake?

Positive expectancies of optimists also predict better reactions during transitions to new environments, sudden tragedies and unlikely turn of events. If they fall, they will stand up. They see opportunities instead of obstacles.

Dealing with a Family Member Having Diabetes

When you have family member with diabetes its not just them that is dealing with it, you are as well. Specially if you are married to that person. This in from a wife's point of view. This is just a few things I have learn about it so far..

My husband is diabetic and believe me dealing with becomes a family problem as well. Having to deal diabetes has become a common disease among people. What causes Diabetes? It is caused due to mismanagement of carbohydrate metabolism inside the body.

Diabetes is identified with the excessive production of urine, hunger, thirst and excessive loss of weight, blurred vision, and delay in healing of skin, repeated infection, and excessive fatigue. Diabetes has got a serous issue of human health. It denotes sugar in blood and urine very excessively.

They say the best way to control it is to start with your diet.
That is because the main concern should be given to controling blood sugars in your blood. Which is the main cause of diabetes. Managing blood sugar is the stepping-stone of any diabetes treatment program. To remove the complications of diabetes one must take it seriously and adopt some good diet process or healthy exercise.
You need to talk with your doctor on what is the best plan for you. Starting off with your diet, you will probably have to take pills.

Most cases if not all will not jump from learning you have it to taking insulin shots. There is no clue for diabetes once your doctor has tested you and you come back border-line. There are a few things you can do as the person who has diabetes. There is frequent testing of blood sugar can denote you how much you have improved on your part to manage suitable measure of sugar in blood.

It is very important to learn the right range of glucose in blood unless and until you cannot have the idea about the complication you are facing about this disease. It depends on age mainly such as in younger age assuming not much complication is there the suitable range of glucose is 80-120 mg/dL and in older age it is 100-140 mg/dL.

The testing items are better than ever before and it doesn't hurt testing your blood. My husband does it every morning. Its very simple to do it. One of the best things you can do is take classes that can teach you about what is have good and suitable diet, types of proper exercise, maintaining healthy weight and medication.
When it is about good and suitable diet it does not make any suggestions that  food becomes boring. What it means is there are things you have to really start doing, like READING LABELS!

You will need to be eating more fruits, vegetables and less anything that is high in carbs. Oh yeah carbs. :( we go to the store and read labels to figure out what is better, brown pasta or rice pasta or corn pasta. Yes you have to count carbs and get used to doing it. We have very interesting talks about the differences between 41 Carbs and 30 Carbs.
You do not have to avoid taking sweets just have to really watch how many you eat.
Meat is your new best friend but if you have a problem eating animal products then you need to find other ways to get protein.

Consult any dietitian about meal plan and the best way to plan one for you. If you can't eat at the same time every day? Well there is one med that you take that is half hour before you eat. So time you eat like fixed doesn't matter, as long as you eat enough and try for three meals a day.

Although diabetes could for life long suffering it doesn't have to. It is not a death sentence you just have to learn as much as you can about it and change your diet for starters. Talk with your Doctor!!

You just have to remember that the disease will be in your control and by watching what you eat, and how much you can live a long and happy life. I love my husband dearly and I take care of his feet for him now. Yes we do pedicures!!

**My husband made the mistake he thought he could handle it with diet alone, when his sugar levels came back over 300 he knew then he had to start really taking care of what he eat and does. Now he has to take two pills for it and we have changed what we eat and how much. **

Nail Polish And Simple Care For The Bottles??

I am in of those moods again.. And to share it, I thought I would share some odd things about nail polish, caring for your bottles. Yeah one of those odd moods.

No matter what you paid it, caring for your new found treasure at the drugstore  or that had to have Chanel color of nail polish, caring for the bottle is just had to have is just as important as caring for your nails is. With proper care and storage you can help lengthen the life of your nail polish.
Polish standard shelf life is about 2 years. Now caring for this so they last longer? Well these are a few I came across..
We have all heard about keeping polish in the refrigerator is a good idea but really that's one big mistake.
 On My Nails Today:
Caty Perry-Wrinkle by Above the Curve
Who ever thought of that idea was nuts especially if you got 100's of bottles!! And who reading this doesn't have that many or more?  All polishes were created in a lab before you get them, they were created tested and developed within a certain ranges of temperature.

By putting them in the refrigerator you are messing up how the chemicals in the polish work together.
I don't know about you, but my family would get pissed off if I told them:
"Humm  no sorry you can't use the refrigerator any longer, I am storing nail polish in it!" :)
Sure the first application of a cold polish might go on smooth but as your natural body heat warms up the polish on your nails it might begin to change as well as the polish within the bottle. No one likes dealing with bubbling and stringing and gloppy separated mess!!

The photo below was what I did.. This is not a great idea on keeping your nail polish. I mean really who does this? (I did, bad bad me)

The best way to store them is in a dark cool drawer. Some of the neatest ideas for storage comes from those who love polish so much they blog about it!!
(I bought this at a thrift store for about $10.00. It got really deep drawers but boy can it hold a ton of polishes!)

Now polishes might look pretty sitting on your desk, just keep them out of the sun cause that can cause some colors to fade. After applying your polish, take time to wipe off around the opening of your bottle and don't use cotton balls a paper towel is better.

A little nail polish remover will remove any polish that might be on the edged helping give your bottle a airtight seal and prolong the life of your favorite polish.
Just a few simple ideas, And to come to think about it, I am starting to run out of room.. Can you believe that? LOL  How do you store your polish?

7 Simple Weight Loss Tips

Read on to check out my simple list of weight loss tips :)
Here is most the end of January and I am sure a few of you may of already forgotten what you decided your New Years resolutions even are. Well for those trying to lose weight for real, here are a few tips to help you out. Really easy to do but so many forget. I for one need to exercise more often than I do.

  1. Exercise on a regular basis - One of the best ways to prevent gaining weight is to get enough exercise. However, there is no need to go through strenuous ones. Just doing regular cardiovascular routines would already help a lot, such as swimming, jogging, biking, and walking. Just make sure to combine it with an effective diet program, so that you can reach your goals.(if you do nothing but walk 30 minutes a day you are helping yourself)
  2. Eat lots of fresh fruits and vegetables - Eating lots of fresh fruits and vegetables would ensure that your skin is well hydrated. Aside from that, since they are filled with dietary fiber, you can also maintain your weight more effectively. Fiber can actually suppress your appetite in a natural way, and it can also help your body in flushing out harmful toxins. Cut back on your cheese intake. That will help you right there.. simple huh?
  3. Eat more times in a day but in lesser portions - If you really need to lose weight, instead of eating only 3 times in day, increase it to 5 times, but be mindful of the portions. Eating more times can actually boost your metabolism, which can facilitate burning more fats and calories. You need to make sure that you are eating lesser amounts of foods each time though, so that you won’t gain weight.  Easy way to do it is to eat half of what is on your plate, no matter the size of the plate!
  4. Increase your daily physical activities to lose weight - If you don’t want to exercise, but you need to lose weight, there are actually other things that you can do to achieve your goal. Aside from dieting, you can lose weight by increasing your daily physical activities. Such activities can include walking towards the grocery store, parking your car blocks away from your office, using the stairs instead of the elevator, and such.
  5. Follow a healthy diet - Having a healthy diet means that you would provide your body with the nutrients that it needs, such as protein, carbohydrates, vitamins, and minerals. When you have adequate amounts of these nutrients, you would be able to maintain a more radiant skin, better body figure, and healthier hair.
  6. Eat slower - When you eat in a slower pace, you would end up with lesser amounts of food in your stomach. This is because, your body would take a certain amount of time to send a signal to your brain that it is already full. Thus, when you eat slower, you would already feel that you are already satisfied, even when you have not consumed the usual amount of foods that you eat yet.
Don’t starve yourself to lose weight - In losing weight, there are certain diet programs, which are pretty restrictive, in which they make you starve to achieve your goals. When you starve yourself, such as going through fasting, your body may go through a state, in which it would lower down your metabolism. Aside from that, even if you lose weight through it, you could look saggy for losing lots of moisture.

When you have lost a few pounds, don't treat yourself to food, try something more fun like nail polish! Doesn't add weight and it makes you look pretty no matter what!
